What Aviator doesn't cover
Aviator's queue covers the basics well. These are the differences teams run into as the repository grows.
Monorepo lanes cost extra
Affected targets, Aviator's monorepo-aware queue, is on the Scale plan at $50 per developer per month. Mergify's scopes are on the Free and Max plans.
A failure resets the queue
In Aviator's parallel mode, a failing draft PR is removed and every draft behind it is closed and re-validated. In Mergify's parallel mode, only batches that share a scope are chained, so a failure in one lane leaves the others running.
Freezes are cron rules
Aviator can pause and unpause the queue on a cron schedule. Mergify's scheduled freezes take exceptions, so a pull request labelled hotfix can still merge while everything else waits.
Merge conditions from a fixed list
Aviator's pre-queue conditions cover approvals, required checks, resolved conversations, and a regex on the title and body. Mergify's rule engine combines labels, files, authors, and time windows however you need.
No test-level flaky detection
Aviator handles flaky failures inside the queue. Knowing which test is flaky, how often, and quarantining it is Test Insights, which every Mergify plan includes.
Audit log on Enterprise only
Aviator's audit log is an Enterprise feature and records configuration changes. Queue activity lives on each PR's timeline. Mergify keeps a queue-wide event log.
